Which is better,Taylormade r9, Titleist d2, Cobra S9-1 pro, Callaway ft-9 or Ping i15?
Going to buy one. Money isnt a problem. I’m a mid low handicap. I am 14 years old. Tend to go to the left with my driver. About 250-260 yards total distance(carry+roll)
Need an extra club in my bag?
I have only 13 clubs in my bag, I shoot from 85-90. Here are my clubs:
Taylormade r7 10.5* driver
Cleveland Hi-bore 15* 3 wood
Nike SQ 21* hybrid
titleist 704.cb 4-pw
an old maxifli 56* sandwedge (high bounce)
acuity 60* lob wedge (low bounce)
should I get a gap wedge, i hit my sand wedge about 100 yards and my driver about 250. Should I just not buy a club and spend the money on a lot of golf balls, or do you think that a new club would help?
i hit my 3 wood about 215 and my hybrid goes about 195-200 depending on the roll, i think that if i got a 5 wood, there would be some serious overlap, i mean, i find myself like 205 out, and i usually try to take off some of my three wood, and it usually works out, if there is a height difference in a three to five wood, that might make a difference because the golf course that i play at is like a jungle, i am almost always trying to hit over trees, so if a five wood could be a 200 yard club that i could get going really high, i might look into that, anyone know if a five wood goes moderately higher than a 3 wood (I have a pretty high ball flight already, makes playing in the wind a BIG problem)
my handicap is 10.2 according to the usga and i have to really step on a 56 to get it to go 100 yards, or take a lot of of my pw, would a gap wedge fill that, and i think my 56* might actually be a 54*. I had a really old set of maxfli irons that is sold (3-sw) but i kept that sandwedge so i’m not sure if it’s a 54* or 56*
Can I go pro?
Do you think I can make the PGA Tour when I grow up?

All clubs are custom fit to my size.

So, what do you think?
Please help me decide between a graphite and steel golf club shaft (info included)?
PLEASE READ THE WHOLE THING, PLEASE HELP ME! ![]()
Hi,
I decided to buy a TaylorMade R7 iron set, but I don’t know if I should go for the stiff graphite or the steel version.
I did try out graphite and steel shafts (not taylormade though) but I still can’t decide and I do NOT have a chance to try out the R7s.
I’m an 18-year old high-handicapper but long hitter… because I can really hit those balls far (on average 165 yards – 7 iron) but my handicap is high because I don’t play much on golf courses (98% driving range) and I’m not the most accurate player ever, but my accuracy isn’t that bad either. I just sometimes slice or hook, not that often though.
I’ve never had the chance to measure my swing speed/tempo, but I’d say it’s between normal and fast.
I don’t have any problems with the trajectory.
On the one hand, I really like the heavy and solid feel of steel shafts (I’m pretty strong, I don’t like those lightweight clubs) and I’d definitely prefer to have more accuracy than distance.
On the other hand, the guy on the driving range (he used to be a pro) told me to swich to graphite (I’ve been using really cheap steel irons for 5 years), but I don’t think it’s like he was watching my swing etc. I think it was more of a general opinion.
(But I’ve also read that low handicappers should use steel shafts).
I like the smaller amount of vibrations when hitting from grass (+divots), but I never have problems with my elbows using steel shafts.
What do you think I should choose?
Thanks!
What club should I get hybrid or 5 wood?
Right now I have these clubs and about how far I hit them.
Driver: R9 supertri – 280
3 Wood: ping g10 – 245
4 hybrid: taylormade 09 – 205
Irons: tailor-made burner 09
5- 190
6- 180
7- 170
8- 160
9- 150
P- 135
Gap- 120
Sand- 105
Lob- 90
I am looking to get a club that will fill my gap between a 4 hybrid and 3 wood. If you could recommend a good five wood or hybrid it would help a lot. I was looking at Maybe a taylormade burnersuperfast 2.0 5 wood or Adams v3 hybrid (19 degrees) or another 09 taylormade rescue. I am a 8 handicap
Can I make my swing work for a 9* driver with a Stiff shaft?
Im 19 and I play "Bogey-Golf" My Handicap is 14. Im 5’10" and 152lbs and I recently recieved a Taylormade R7 "Draw" Driver as a present. It’s a 9* with Stiff shaft. Im wondering what my chances are of making this thing work? Any tips on getting a nice launch angle? Im going to the range 2morrow morning for the 1st time and playing a round after so any help I can get tonight would be awesome.
Taylormade Burner or Nike SQ Dymo driver. which one should i get?
I am 14 and about a 14 handicap. I hit the ball pretty far, but I tend to slice the driver, which I plan on fixing. I don’t want to hit it to high, but I don’t want to much spin either. I am just wondering what some of your reccomendations might be on which one is better or which one I should get. Thanks
Are the Titleist AP1 irons the right clubs for me?
I am looking to buy some new irons, but can’t decide between the Titleist AP1 irons, and the TaylorMade R9 irons.
I like the look of both of them, but i want the AP1 irons a little more, because if have Titleist Wedges.
Based on the following information, do you think the Titleist AP1s are the right irons for me? Or am i better off getting the TaylorMade R9 irons?
About Me:
14 years old, 5’10", 115 lbs
I have a little over 15 handicap
My strong points-Irons and chips
My weak points-Driving it consistently
I usually hit the ball solid, but will slice one day, hit it straight the next, and then hook it the next day
PS: You may think that my parents are crazy to buy me that expensive of clubs, but i am the one paying for them. And yes i know that they are expensive for a kid my age, but i play golf everyday. I am so obsessed with the game that i am willing to spend a lot of money.
Taylormade R5 Dual Question (VERY IMPORTANT)?
I have had my taylormade R5 Dual Nuetral Driver for about 5 months, and all of a sudden I am starting to hit low hooks to the left every once in a while. I used to hit long straight shots but now i don’t just keep hooking them. What should I do or change. (I am about a 5-7 handicap)
Currently in the market for a new set of golf irons; advice needed.?
Before answering my question let me explain what type of golfer I am and my style of play. I am a 20 year old, 6 foot male with a handicap of about 25. My biggest weakness is my inability to hit with a driver (currently using a Taylormade r5 that I won in a raffle); actually I struggle from the tee pretty much 80% of the time, even if I am not using a driver. However, I excel at 50-30 yards from the pin and often save bogey or double bogey on a hole due to my ability to chip and putt. I will go in more detail about each aspect of my game to help you guys give my accurate advice. As a side note, I am currently using a set of Wilson 1200 GE irons from the 80′s. Needless to say I think it’s time for an upgrade.
Like I said I excel from 50-30 yards out. I may be a 25 handicapper, but I most certainly chip like a single digit handicapper and putt like a bogey golfer. I usually two putt my way to the hole unless I chipped it in or I am close enough to tap in. I am in no need for a putter or wedge as I have my trusty CG14 wedge at 56 degrees and 14 bounce and my Cleveland Classic BRZ mallet putter, both which I am comfortable with. So, as a result, I do not need a set with extensive wedges or a box set with drivers and a putter.
I could use help with my mid game, which is where the new iron set comes in. My iron game is better than what my handicap suggests as well. I hit my 5 iron at 165, my 6 iron 155, my 7 iron 145, and so on. I get pretty good distance of my irons, which I am happy about, however, it’s consistency that I struggle with. I have those beautiful shots every round where I hit the ball right on the sweet spot and it goes flying, but the problem is it’s too small with my Wilson’s and without a swing that is 100% repeatable I will never hit that consistent with my Wilson player irons. However, if I catch fire with my 5 iron, I usually have no trouble hitting it. I guess I am looking for irons that forgiving on mishits or irons with a larger sweet spot, however I want some control with distance. I have a problem investing in game improvement irons because I can already hit the ball far, I don’t need my 5 iron going 200 yards on me and stuck at 120 yards out and not being able to use anything.
Finally, I suck at the tee box. I can’t hit anything but a miserable 200 yard slice or a 30 yard hook. There have been days where I can hit the driver perfectly and it goes 250+ yards and straight. Lately I have no confidence in the driver and have resorted to my 5 iron to tee off, but even then I psych out.
I am a golfer who could greatly improve with more forgiving irons and I think I could become a bogey golfer or better with consistency since my short game is stellar. I understand that a lot of my issues need to be fix by a professional, and I plan on doing so next season or later this season, but I also think new irons would be extremely beneficial as well. Lastly, I was hoping for irons in or around the 0 price range; I am currently looking at the Wilson Di9 set, but haven’t tried any at the local Golfers Warehouse. Thanks for the advice in advance!
The Jeff, thanks I knew I was going to get this response, and I respect it because it is true that I need a pro to help. What should I look for in a pro to instruct me. I obviously don’t want one who will confuse me more than anything else.
